Physiotherapy
A Chartered Physiotherapist treats injuries and diseases by correcting and improving the body’s own natural healing mechanisms. A wide variety of techniques are used to help muscles, joints, nerves and other soft tissues work to their full potential.
Our Physiotherapists use a wide range of skills including mobilisation, manipulation, massage, exercises and acupuncture, sometimes aided by the use of sophisticated electronic equipment – all designed to help in restoring function, relieving pain and promoting healing.
Preventative measures are very important in physiotherapy. The Physiotherapist will spend time teaching you how to avoid recurrence of your problems.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a distinctive and complete system of health care, which aims to establish the source of and solution to a wide range of bodily problems.
It focuses on the musculo-skeletal system (joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and fascia), and considers the links between all structures and organs in making up a fully functioning body.
Osteopathy deals with problems relating to all parts of the body, although it is best recognised for its ability to alleviate back and neck difficulties.
Osteopathy is applicable to all age groups, from babies to the elderly, and can have beneficial effects on almost all types of injury and pain, from trauma and sporting causes, to those related to posture and work (both sedentary and active).
Podiatry
Podiatry (previously called Chiropody) is the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot.
Treatments are offered for common pathologies of the foot such as:
Corns
Callus
Verrucae
Ingrowing toenails
Thickened and problem nails which are difficult to cut at home
Cracked heels
Orthoses can also be provided for conditions such as pronation (foot rolls in), supination (foot rolls out), flat feet, plantar fasciitis (heel pain), and to correct misalignment elsewhere in the body (e.g. the knees).
Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in China and is a well-established treatment practiced throughout the world.
It has been recognised for many years as an effective means of treating musculoskeletal disorders such as back and neck pain, as well as osteoarthritis of the knees, but it has far wider applications.
However, Acupuncture is now also commonly used to help support fertility treatment, and to alleviate gynaecological problems, allergies such as hay fever, digestive diseases, and mental-emotional problems such as anxiety.
Acupuncturists adopt a holistic approach and use acupuncture and moxibustion to move and regulate your 'Qi', the body's vital energy, restoring its harmonious flow through the body's channel system and stimulating the body's own healing mechanisms.
Modern research has shown that acupuncture also exerts a strong effect on the central nervous system, which can explain its ability to modulate pain so effectively.
Soft Tissue Manipulation Therapy
Soft tissue manipulation therapy is a specialised form of manual therapy designed to alleviate both acute and chronic pain, improving circulation, enhancing range of motion, and supporting overall health and wellness.
This therapeutic approach is highly effective for people affected by sports injuries, everyday aches and pains, headaches, and other painful conditions, providing a path to recovery and improved quality of life.
Focusing on the body's soft tissues, the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, soft tissue manipulation therapy targets discomfort and facilitates relief and healing.
The techniques are strong and firm in nature to reduce sensitivity in the affected areas, which is often a source of pain and discomfort. Controlled pressure and specific manipulation and massage techniques helps break down scar tissue, reduce muscle tension and bands of painful, rigid tissue, and enhance blood circulation for healing and improved tissue health - all facilitating recovery.
Pain Relief and Other Benefits
Soft tissue manipulation aims to increase the range of motion and flexibility of the affected area and this enhanced range of motion helps with day-to-day activities and prevents further injuries by maintaining the elasticity and functionality of the tissues.
Beyond pain relief it can help to promote relaxation, enhance the immune system by improving lymphatic drainage and the removal of toxins from the body.
Reflexology
Reflexology detects and treats specific imbalances. It activates physical and psychological responses. Reflexology induces a state of deep relaxation and since it has been estimated that about 75% of disease is stress related, this is a major contribution to the return of good health.
As treatments continue over time, this state of relaxation becomes deeper and more established.
Reflexology stimulates a freer flow of blood and lymph supply to cells and tissues. This circulatory effect may not seem much, but in fact it is crucial to good health.
Good circulation is of utmost importance in nourishing cells and eliminating waste from the body. The ‘cleansing’ and ‘nourishing’ effects of a reflexology treatment are a major part of its effectiveness. It helps the body to flush out waste products and toxins and improve blood circulation.
Reiki Healing
Reiki (pronounced “Ray-Kee”) is a simple, but effective Japanese healing technique that works with the energy balance of the body.
It provides a whole body treatment which soothes the mind, body and spirit.
Reiki creates a feeling of deep relaxation, peacefulness and wellbeing.
It is a wonderfully safe technique with very few contraindications, meaning it is suitable for all ages and can be used alongside conventional medicine without issue.
In Eastern Medicine, it has long been known that energy blockages eventually lead to illness and poor health.
Reiki can remove stagnant energy and promote the body’s unique healing ability.
Some of the many benefits of Reiki are:
Reduces stress and tension
Improves wellbeing
Promotes better sleep
Reduces pain
Alleviates anxiety
Stimulates the natural healing process
Boosts mood
Encourages a positive mindset
Promotes peace and tranquillity
Treats mild depression
Pranic Healing Therapy
This invisible energy keeps the body alive and maintains good health.
It can be used to treat and resolve physical problems such as aches, pains, infections, and illnesses through to chronic ailments like cancer or even boost your immune system. It is also incredibly effective with emotional problems like stress, anxiety, depression and even addictions.
It works on the fundamental principle that the body can heal itself. It also helps achieve peace of mind and mental clarity while living a more dynamic and productive life.
Bowen Therapy
Bowen technique works with the soft connective tissue, the “fascial layer of the body”, and the effects can be felt throughout.
Whilst the actual tissue beneath is directly affected, messages are also sent to the brain via the central nervous system, so the treatment is working on more than one level.
As a therapy it is quite unique and unlike any other treatment. Bowen Therapy can trigger powerful positive changes in the body afterwards.
The Therapist moves accurately over specific point locations over the body, muscles, tendons ligaments and fascia. The Therapist simply gives the body signals which allows the person receiving the treatment to start healing.
It is non-evasive but powerful, and one of the most satisfying parts of the job is listening to client's feedback on relieving pain and discomfort from their lives.
Many clients have found BOWEN THERAPY brings pain relief and balance to their bodies, both physically and emotionally, like nothing else they have tried.
Fascia and connective tissue are an integral part of us. When tension in one area of the body is released, this has a knock-on effect elsewhere - like a set of dominos being knocked over. With the release of toxins and old patterning, the moves begin to accomplish holistic balance almost immediately.
BOWEN THERAPY addresses the body as a whole unit, rather than just the presenting symptoms. It embraces the physical, chemical, emotional and mental aspects of each person receiving a treatment. As fascia is thixotropic, the rolling and stretching motion of Bowen Therapy counteracts this stiffening, restores mobility and reduces pain.
Effects may also be felt in other areas of the body as equilibrium is restored, and this demonstrates the brain is able to recognise further imbalances in the body and set-up the appropriate responses to rectify them.

Indian Head Massage
With its roots in Ayurvedic medicine, originating in India, Indian Head Massage is a holistic therapy - meaning it embraces the whole person, physically, spiritually, emotionally and socially.
Indian Head Massage aims to:
Balance our body, mind, and spirit
Encourage our body’s natural healing powers.
Promote wellbeing through encouraging the flow of energy [PRANA] through the energy channels [CHAKRAS] in our body.
CHAKRAS can be likened to our internal wheels of invisible PRANA energy, sometimes referred to as the vital life force, and helping these to be open, aligned and fluid, enables our energy to flow as it needs to and support us being healthy and vibrant in life.
A treatment involves massaging the back, shoulders, arms, neck, head and face, helping the muscles to relax.
It can relieve neck and shoulder discomfort, ease headaches and eye strain, increase focus and concentration, reduce mental tiredness, support sleep, and ease anxiety and feelings of nervousness and agitation.
Oxygenating the brain and activating our parasympathetic nervous system, Indian Head Massage helps to boost our brain and mood and bring calm and relaxation; it increases the body’s endorphins to help relieve pain, enliven our senses, reduce stress, and improve our sense of well-being.
